Feminine Not Feminist

Reclaiming my womanhood after abortion

Hardcover | Paperback

In the 1960s, Candy embraced feminism only to face abuse, addiction, coerced abortions, betrayal, and illness within a destructive marriage. After divorce, she fought to rebuild her life as a single mother but was stricken with an uncurable disease. Then her prince charming seemingly rescued her, but she struggled to follow his lead rather than insisting on her feminist way. This memoir chronicles one woman’s struggle, resilience, faith, and search for healing and for a loving marriage.

Description from the Back Cover

Feminine Not Feminist: Reclaiming my womanhood after abortion by Candy Thompson

What if your worship were a weapon to win women and men for life and for Christ?

Abortion is spiritual warfare. And God has given you a powerful sword for the fight: worshipful, scripture-based prayers.

Worship is not just songs sung on Sunday, but praise sung from temples of the Holy Spirit with breastplates securely in place as living sacrifices that move the heart of God and defeat the spiritual forces of evil.

The Battle Is Real—and You're Called to Stand Firm

Satan grows bolder every day, but Ephesians 3:20 promises that God "can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine through the power that works within us." That power comes from the Holy Spirit through righteous prayer and wholehearted worship.

Worship to End Abortion equips you to:

  • Stand firm with the full armor of God

  • Pray with biblical authority using scripture-based prayers

  • Worship as a living sacrifice from your temple of the Holy Spirit

  • Intercede powerfully for the abortion-minded

  • Transform hearts and minds by speaking the truth in love

Candy’s rebellious, adventurous spirit gladly accepted the cry of inequality of the feminist rhetoric on her college campus in the 1960s. After eloping with a want-a-be revolutionist, she found herself slavishly supporting his drug habits with her college degree in science education.

After her firstborn child, while under threats and fights with her husband and thousands of miles away from family support, Candy reluctantly agreed to have two abortions. Pregnant again, she fought for her baby and birthed a beautiful daughter.

Swept up in a verbally and sometimes physically abusive marriage, she raised two children while enduring her husband’s infidelity and emotional detachment. After spending two weeks in the psychiatric ward and pregnant again, Candy gave in to a third abortion, hopeless that her life would never change.

After the inevitable divorce, Candy faced the daunting reality of single motherhood compounded by the constant battle with an incurable disease and other effects of her hidden trauma. When her prince charming pulled her from ashes, she struggled to follow his lead and trust his persevering spirit.

This memoir is the powerful story of a woman who bravely fights the effects of feminism and abortion on her body, her mind, and her marriage.

Feminine, Not Feminist is a must read for women and men.

Women need freedom from the lies of those who claim to free them but don’t. Candy Thompson is an important voice for this both in her personal story and in showing clear paths forward from trauma, deception, bitterness, and bondage. She pragmatically demonstrates God-designed womanhood and manhood, leading to redemption, new identity, healing, and flourishing.

Marion Neiser, Journalist

Candy Thompson has written a bold book that describes the true mental, physical, and emotional effects of her three abortions, dispelling the lies of feminism and abortion advocates. She cites scientific studies verifying the effects of abortion on her and many other women.

Through returning to God for His forgiveness, Candy’s journey of healing and wholeness, through faith in God’s Word, is truly an inspiration for all who suffer from mental, emotional, or physical illness.

I sincerely recommend Candy’s true story of overcoming the past to find God’s blessings in His plan for marriage.

Pastor Aaron Doan, Generations Church, Tahlequah, Oklahoma

Candy Thompson embodies the courage to speak truth to lies, while pointing to the hope and freedom found in Christ. She is always willing to share the pain she experienced through abortion and the healing she has found in Jesus Christ. She isn’t afraid to take on culture head-on and expose the feminist agenda’s lies and deceptions that seeks to indoctrinate women today.

In a generation that is confused about identity, femininity, and truth, Candy is calling women back to biblical womanhood. What makes her book so powerful is that she writes from her own experiences, not just theories she has developed. Her story is a reminder that no past is beyond God’s grace and no life is too broken for His restoration.

As Candy’s pastor, it has been my joy to witness her help women find redemption and point them toward the beauty and freedom found in surrendering to God’s plan. I believe many women will find hope, healing, and renewed purpose through these pages.

Lauren Doan, Generations Church, Tahlequah, Oklahoma

In a time where masculinity is often labeled toxic and biblical submission is viewed as oppressive, it is essential for The Church to speak boldly and biblically to these critical issues. Candy Thompson’s voice is both timely and necessary as she points women back to God’s beautiful design.

As Candy’s pastor’s wife, I have had a front row seat to witness her deep passion for women to have the veil lifted from their eyes so they can experience the freedom, purpose, and empowerment found within God’s divine order. Candy’s testimony is filled with miraculous God-stories of healing, provision, deliverance, and restoration. She carries a unique anointing to confront dark deceptions and reveal God’s heart toward women with conviction and compassion.

There is no doubt many lives will be transformed because of Candy’s obedient “yes” to the Lord in writing this book.

Beverly Shoemaker, Resilience mentor and inspirational speaker, beverlyshoemaker.com

In Feminine Not Feminist, Candy Thompson offers a courageous and raw account of a life once defined by the rebellion of the 1960s—from the heavy weight of past abortions and the isolation of a psychiatric ward to a miraculous journey of restoration.

As a seasoned mentor for women, Candy takes up a vital mantle for the next generation, validating her personal experience with both scriptural truth and scientific insight. Having known Candy personally for years, I have witnessed her deep passion for sharing this story to bring others hope. After seeing her 43-year journey of faith and a marriage reclaimed through Christ, I highly recommend this book as an essential beacon of light for any soul searching for forgiveness, truth, and the joy of God’s covenant design.

Lynn Harris, Pastor's Wife, Mother, and Founder of Arise Ministries

This book is a powerful testimony of redemption, courage, and the transforming love of Jesus. Through deeply personal experiences of emotional pain, abuse, loss, and chronic illness, Candy invites us right into her journey from brokenness to wholeness. Her story is raw, honest, and filled with hope—reminding us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s healing. This is more than a story; it’s an invitation into freedom.

Judith Ackerman, M.S.Ed., Former Aglow Lighthouse President

Through Scripture and the story of her life, Candy sets forth God’s original design for women. Her greatest desire is for them to be set free to live as God intended. Her commonsense approach makes it easy for women to recognize where they might fall short. I’ve watched Candy be a living example of her convictions. Read and be encouraged. Read and be changed.
